Registration Information

 Our Philosophy

The rehearsal and performance of any ensemble should always be fun for everyone involved.  Our goal is to rehearse and perform music of varying difficulty and styles to the highest standard in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.  If you are feeling overwhelmed (or underwhelmed) please be patient as we strive to find our common ground.  Our greatest regret will be to lose someone.  We are open for suggestions but will always make decisions that we feel are in the best interest of the whole band. 

New Members to the Band

New members may join the band at the beginning of a Session in September or January.  New members may “sit-in” for two rehearsals before committing to the band.  Please contact the ACB at least two weeks before the session begins.

Rehearsal Schedule

The ACB rehearses every Sunday evening from 7 to 9 pm at the Aurora Cultural Centre.  We have access to the building at 6:45pm and must exit by 9:15pm.  Our season runs from September until June and includes two sessions - September to December and January to June.

Member Responsibilities

Attendance    

Attendance is important as we only rehearse once a week.  If you are going to be absent please let us know by email at auroracommunityband@gmail.com.

Equipment    

Members are responsible for supplying their own instrument and music stand.  Percussionists are asked to supply sticks and mallets.

Music 

Once band members have paid their fees they will be given an embossed ACB Band Folder to be returned at the end of each session.  Members may also purchase an ACB Folder with their name embossed on the folder for $25.

Commitment to Performances        

It is expected that band members make every effort to participate in all scheduled performances and festivals.

Fee

The 2016/17 Season has been divided into two sessions (Sept. to Dec. and Dec. to June). Our season consists of weekly rehearsals and both formal and informal performances. Please see the "Upcoming Events" page for our performance schedule.  The fee structure will be $120 for the whole season ($60 student rate) and $70 if registering for one session only.

Membership fees are due at the beginning of the season/session.

Gord is an Aurora resident and York Region music educator with over 25 years of experience.  His strong commitment to performing quality music that is accessible to band members and audiences is crucial to the success of our band.
