York University Community Band Festival

Welcome to the York University Community Band Festival Page!

Overview

The YUCBF is an annual event that was created in 2012 by Gord Shephard (YorkU PhD candidate) and Professor Bill Thomas to provide community bands with the opportunity to come together and celebrate their belief that music is a lifelong passion creating enjoyment for individuals and benefits for our communities.  Each year four community bands are invited to participate in the festival that includes workshops, a mass band rehearsal and a concert.  The YUCBF also invites prominent community band leaders who direct the mass band and provide a keynote address.  Past keynote speakers have included Bobby Herriot, Gino Falconi, Denny Ringler, Steve Chenette and Donald Coakley.

The YUCBF takes place at York University in the Accolade East Building with the concert being performed in the beautiful Tribute Communities Recital Hall
